Post-Cards 180.000 post-cards - metal wire - wood - Stazione Santa Maria Novella - Florence - Italy - 2007
The installation Post-Cards moves from the presence of touristic items on sale around Santa Maria Novella train station. The artist Paolo W. Tamburella printed 180.000 touristic postcards of countries normally in the public eye only for being places devastated by wars, social and political instability or violation of human rights. The possibility to send a postcard from Iran, Somalia, Iraq or Darfur while being in Florence place the tourist in a process of rethinking tourism and global mobility and create an extension of the travel experience from Ponte Vecchio to the Deriba Crater in Darfur.
